DIY Thursday: Washcloth Travel pouch

Washcloth Travel Pouch
I saw this idea on Pinterest from Nikki @ WhiMSy love and knew that I needed to make these for my kids!
We usually place toothbrushes and toothpaste in plastic bags, or even (let's be honest here!) just thrown in their overnight bags. They get pretty disgusting, but I haven't found a better idea...until now!!!
I am so excited because this is just what I was looking for & they are super easy to make (even if you claim you don't know how to sew).  Straight lines all the way baby!
I'm thinking I might even make one for the hubsters and myself!
You totally need to make one, it's perfect for all those vacations you are going to go on this summer...c'mon, you know you wanna =)

Here's how I did it:

I got my washcloths at Walmart because they have a ton of fun colors & they are pretty cheap.  They are size 12x12.
Sorry my pictures aren't that great, but I can only take them on my phone at the moment :/

Fold your washcloth in third, about 3-4 inches.

Sew up the ends to create a big pocket.

Sew a seam down the middle of the big pocket to create 2 smaller pockets.  Then sew a seam down the middle of those 2 pockets.  Like so...
My thumb is marking the middle seam.

I didn't measure these, I just winged it.  I figure with this kind of project, precision and exact dimensions are not critical.

Then I cut a ribbon about 28 inches.  I sewed it onto the outside of one end.

This way I can roll up my pouch and have the ribbon on the outside to tie it all up.

Here it is unrolled:

This one is for my little girl & she brought me these items to demonstrate =)
Items include:
One minute Timer (hourglass type thingy)
Toothbrush
Toothpaste
Mini Mouthwash

She forgot the floss...I guess I did too since I didn't know it was missing until just now.  Oops!

Happy Sewing!
