DIY Thursday: Spring Craftiness!

Hi Ya’ll!!!!

I’m so happy to be showing ya’ll a fun Spring Project courtesy of Wood Creations.

What a fantastic little shop! I can literally stand in their store for 30 minutes trying to decide what projects I want to take home. It’s so much fun!

So, with Spring finally here, I wanted to make something fun & bright. That’s where this craft is going to take us!

Doesn’t that phrase just say “Spring”?

Here’s a Before & After…so you can kind of see where this project is going:

Fun!

Here’s how I made mine!

First I painted all my wood pieces.

I already had some fun spring paint colors at home, but guess what??? If I didn’t, Wood Creations has got a great selection of paints to go with any of their projects. I decided that I wanted to pick-up and use some fun scrapbook paper from the store. And bonus…they’re double-sided!

When my wood pieces were dried, I took the grass, flowers & umbrella, flipped them over, and traced their shape onto the fun paper. I then used Modge-Podge to glue them onto the wood-super simple!

As I was going through this project, I wanted to add a little somethin’-somethin’ to it. Then I thought that it would be fun to add some grass; because flowers and grass can readily be found in my garden.

I simply cut out a square of paper, cut some fringe, and then glued it around the dowel:

I then put everything together:

And thought that it needed something else….Raindrops! So I grabbed some blue paper, and cut out some raindrops to glue on top of the umbrella.

And that’s that…I’ve got a wonderful, Springy, decoration for our home!

I hope ya’ll take the chance & hop on over to our little blog! Between the eight of us girls, we’ve got something for everyone.

Wild Card Wednesday: 500 Miles of Summer

I love all 4 seasons, but Summer is my favorite by far.  I love being out in the sun.  My favorite thing about Summer is bike rides.  It is something my husband and I enjoy doing together.  We have talked about family bike rides one day when we have kids.  I am excited for the day we can go on family ones.  I hope our kids love to bike as much as we do.  With thats being said I ran across this idea from Pinterest.  It was a poster with a chart and it said 100 miles of summer.  Their family goal was to do 100 miles through the course of the summer.  I turned to my husband and said we should do this one day with our kids.  He replied by saying we should do it now but do 1000 miles.  I thought 1000 was quite a bit, especially because we always seem to get busy in the summer.  So we decided on doing 500.

I used my new Silhouette Cameo to make a fun poster with two charts.  We are going to use stickers to mark and keep track of each mile.  My husband laughed at me when I told him about the stickers.  He said a pencil works just fine too.  I think he decided it was cute my inner child was coming out.

Sweet Tooth Tuesday: Chocolate Potato Chips

Yes chocolate and ruffled potato chips! It is soooooooo good and hits the salty and sweet needs. I got the idea from Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory. We bought some while in Aspen for winter X-games. I loved them but didn't love how thick the chocolate was.
Well I thought I can make these.
I melted some chocolate chips in the microwave, on 20% power so I didn't burn the chocolate. Then I dipped the chips into the chocolate. I used a spoon to wipe some of the chocolate off so the top of the ridges didn't have much chocolate left and the ridges were still filled with the chocolate.
I used Semisweet chocolate chips and didn't love the bitter taste so I will be using MILK CHOCOLATE next time.

A little sweet, salty and some yummy crunch!!

Munchkin Monday: CTR Family Night

CTR Family Night
We had a family home evening lesson on choosing the right. I wanted them to have something to remind them the Choose the Right. I picked up some CTR rings from Seagle Book. I got the cheap ones that only come in the color GREEN, well this is a problem for my little girl. She will not wear green.....
so we made it PINK.
I took the GREEN CTR ting and some PINK nail polish.
Using a toothpick i covered it and let it dry. When it was about dry I took a cotton swab and dipped it in nail polish remover. I rubbed it over the CTR to take the PINK off to reveal the silver CTR.
She was so exited to have her PINK CTR ring.
