DIY Thursday: Revamped Dining Chairs

Revamped Dining Chairs

I bought these chairs about a year ago and have been dying to get some spray paint on them!
Finally the time had come...although I am still in the process a bit.

The yellow chair has the fabric that I found under the nasty fabric on the cushion.  It doesn't look too bad in the picture, but trust me, it was BAD!  The chair on the end is the original...obviously.
I found this amazing idea here at All Things Thrifty.  Brooke is so dang talented.  I wish I was her...no really, I do.
So Brooke at All Things Thrifty loves Krylon spray paint.  I will admit I tried it and I hated it, but to each her own.  Maybe I was just using it wrong?  Any who, I tried Rust-Oleum brand and I am never going back.  It coats so nice and lovely.  If I could marry a spray paint, this would be it (okay, that was random!).
I used their Gloss Protective Enamel in Fern (same color I used on my silhouette frames), Orange, and Sunrise Red.  I also used their Painter's Touch in Gloss Grape, and Gloss Sun Yellow.  My last chair is destined to be turquoise.  I am still looking for the right shade.  Unfortunately I can't find it in Rust-Oleum without paying an exorbitant amount in shipping costs.  I can't wait until it is finished!!!!

Before & After:

Here is how I did the upholstery bit:
First, find yourself a handsome man to help you out ;)
Unscrew the pad from the chair.

Take off the nasty fabric.
Here I just laid the cushion on top of the fabric and roughly cut out the shape.  Make sure to leave plenty of room on the edges so you can wrap the fabric around the edge.

Get out your handy staple gun and start stapling the fabric to the underside of the cushion.  Make sure you pull tight!

Make sure you pull tight on the corners so you don't see any fabric creases on the top.

Here it is all stapled =)

I cut off the excess fabric after stapling.

And here is the top view!

The fabric I got at Joann's in their Home Decor Fabric section.  The print is by Mill Creek Fabrics.  I couldn't find it online, but trust me, it is at the store and it is lovely.

Screw the cushion back on and you have yourself one fancy chair!
(BTW, the color looks REALLY bright in this pic.  It's bright but not this bright!)

Once we get out table finished I will do a post for that also.
I love getting custom furniture for super cheap...my wallet loves me also!

Here is one last look...

I just love these! You are so brave to use such vibrant colors in your dining room. I've done it in my craft room but I'm pretty traditional downstairs.
